County Platform & Legislative Priorities

ACCG County Platform

The ACCG County Platform is a detailed document which provides a collective overview on the breadth of issues which confront our county government membership on a daily basis. It is important that you share this platform with your respective state legislative delegation as well as with our Georgia Congressional Delegation for issues at the federal level. While the ACCG staff proudly represents your county at the federal and state government levels on broad legislative advocacy issues, the respective role that each of you play in this process must be underscored. The strength in our collective efforts to clearly identify our legislative advocacy positions with our federal and state legislative leaders is vitally important. In this day and time, the role that county governments play on behalf of their respective citizens requires that services be carefully evaluated and cost efficiencies be researched and implemented where necessary. ACCG’s strong history of peer-to-peer interaction coupled with our unified policy process allows for critical information sharing to occur.

Legislative Priorities

The Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) works on behalf of counties and their communities to provide public policy development and legislative advocacy on issues that come before the Georgia General Assembly and the U.S. Congress.  As part of ACCG’s policy development process, county officials identify specific, actionable items for the Association’s lobbyists to further.  These items, that are called the Legislative Agenda, are recommended by the ACCG Policy Council, approved by the Board of Managers and voted upon by the ACCG membership at the Legislative Leadership Conference as part of the County Platform.
