Professional Profile
King currently serves as the Executive Director for the Association County Commissioners of Georgia. As ACCG executive director, King works closely with the ACCG Board of Managers and oversees the association’s 76 member staff, including its legislative advocacy, membership services and insurance and retirement programs. He has worked for ACCG since 1987, most recently serving as the association’s deputy director.
Prior to joining ACCG in 1987, Mr. King served for three years as the first state program coordinator for the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA). GEFA is a state managed finance program which provides low interest loans to Georgia local governments for water, wastewater and solid waste system improvements. Mr. King began his professional career in 1982 serving for approximately two years as the Administrative Assistant to the Mayor and City Council of Americus, Georgia.
Mr. King currently serves as a member on the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Board (GHRAB). He is also a board member for Georgia Humanities Council (GHC) and the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Advisory Council (CAES) at the University of Georgia.
Mr. King attained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1981 at High Point University, in High Point, North Carolina. In 1982, Mr. King completed a Masters of Public Administration degree at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
