Effective January 1, 2001, all county vehicles are required to have a county decal affixed to the front door, except law enforcement vehicles and other vehicles identified by the board of commissioners in a resolution.
Governor Nathan Deal has unveiled legislation to establish a Special Council on Criminal Justice Reform. Through HB 265, this council would be charged with developing options to increase offender accountability, improve rehabilitation efforts and lower costs.
Douglas County E-911 Director Greg Whitaker was re-elected President of the Georgia 9-1-1 Directors Association at the annual meeting of the organization. He was first elected for the 2009-10 term, and now has been re-elected for the 2011-12 term.
Representative Wendell Williard (D-District 49) has introduced legislation which seeks to improve the collection of prepaid cell phone fees to support E-911 operations, which is an ACCG priority issue for the 2011 legislative session.
ACCG has developed a detailed overview and model ordinance for counties for the implementation of House Bill 256, which changes the method that 9-1-1 fees are assessed on prepaid wireless cellular phones and service and sets forth a method for distribution of the fees to local governments.
In order for county governments to implement enhanced 911 for their citizens with cellular and wireless telephones without subsidization from the property taxpayers, a wireless enhanced 911 resolution must be adopted.
The Special Council on Criminal Justice Reform for Georgians released its report to Governor Nathan Deal, Lt. Governor Casey Cagle and Speaker of the House David Ralston on Friday, November 18.
