ACCG Legislative Director Clint Mueller gave a presentation on how county taxes work to the Special Council on Tax Reform and Fairness for Georgians on September 29, 2010 at Mercer University. The Special Council on Tax Reform and Fairness to Georgians was established through House Bill 1405 which passed during the 2010 legislative session. This council is charged with conducting a thorough study of the state’s current revenue structure and making a report of its findings and recommendations for legislation to the Speaker of the House and the Lieutenant Governor no later than January 10, 2011.

The next meeting of the Special Council on Tax Reform and Fairness to Georgians is scheduled for November 3, 2010 (location to be announced). ACCG will continue to monitor the proceedings of this council.
