GEMA Releases Online Training for Interoperability Network

The Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) has developed an interactive web-based training program for users of the Motobridge/Georgia Interoperability Network (GIN). This training was developed and designed with the assistance of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GRTI).

For access to the training program, go to http://gintraining.gatech.edu.  A unique user account is required for each user, but access is free.  Once registered, users can access all of the training modules for the GIN operator’s course.  GEMA is developing additional courses that will be posted on the site in 2011.  Once posted, users will be able to access those courses as well for continued training.

If you have any questions or trouble accessing the site, please contact Nick Brown, GEMA Statewide Interoperability Coordinator at (404) 624-2359 or nick.brown@gema.ga.gov or Mark Hodges at GTRI at mark.hodges@gtri.gatech.edu

Counties also are encouraged to join the interoperable communications community at www.niix.org.  The National Interoperability Information eXchange is a secure site for document sharing and includes an events calendar to post training, exercise and meeting information.  Georgia has established a community specific to the state and is open to any public safety personnel employed by a local, state, or federal governmental agency.  Registration is free.   Once you are registered, email Nick Brown to gain access to the Georgia community information.
