NACo Announces Interactive Online Game - Counties Work!

The National Association of Counties (NACo) has created an online game specifically related to county government called, “Counties Work.”  The game lets students learn about county government by serving as a county official with the tasks of providing services, dealing with citizen requests, setting and raising revenues and working within a budget.  The game is available at no cost at www.icivics.com.

Counties Work is targeted at students in grades six through 12.  The game not only offers a fun, interactive way to learn about county government but also provides will teachers curriculum and quizzes to assist in developing lesson plans.

iCivics is a web-based education project designed to teach students civics.  The program is the vision of former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, who is concerned that students are not getting information and resources to encourage civic participation and civics teachers need better materials and support.
