| GDOT Requests Update on Road Miles |
In the ongoing effort to compile the best possible information on the state’s road network, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is asking each county and city to provide the total number of paved and unpaved roads within their jurisdiction. This information will be used to help determine the appropriate funding levels for programs such as the Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) program and the Transportation Investment Act of 2010. County commission chairman will receive a letter from Commissioner Keith Golden, which formally requests the status of each local government’s roads as of December 31, 2011. To see a copy of this letter, click here.
GDOT has initiated an on-line reporting process this year, which is available here. If your county would rather file the report on a traditional form or has any questions about this request, please contact Doug Alexander at (770) 986-1436 or dalexander@dot.ga.us. | |
