7th Annual GA County Excellence Awards

Six Georgia counties – Augusta-Richmond, Camden, Cherokee, Clayton, Habersham and Gwinnett – recently were selected as Georgia County Excellence Award recipients for developing innovative programs designed to make county government more effective and efficient, improve services for county residents and enhance the quality of life in Georgia communities. 


Now in its 7th year, the Georgia County Excellence Awards program is co-sponsored by the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) and Georgia Trend magazine.  The recipients are profiled in the March issue of Georgia Trend magazine, which is available here.

The initiatives that earned Georgia County Excellence Awards include:

  • Augusta – Richmond County: Revitalizing Augusta’s Laney Walker / Bethlehem
  • Camden County: Helping Citizens Save Lives – Andrew Cohn Automatic External Defibrillator Project
  • Cherokee County: Development Service Center
  • Clayton County: Clayton Fire Network
  • Habersham County: Promoting Healthy & Active Lifestyles through Community Partnerships
  • Gwinnett County: Traffic Control Center

This year's recipients will be recognized at the ACCG Annual Meeting's Awards Celebration on April 30th.
