How is the air quality where you live? Check out EPD’s daily air quality monitoring data recorded at sites around Georgia. - http://www.air.dnr.state.ga.us/amp/index.html The Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) was created to work with and oversee the transportation planning for counties officially designated as not attaining air quality standards. Currently, there are thirteen counties in the metropolitan Atlanta area that are non-attainment, including Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale. But the number of counties that do not meet air quality standards is expected to increase in the near future to include other areas of Georgia like Augusta, Macon, Columbus, and north Georgia counties that are near Chattanooga. Eventually, those counties will also come under the authority of the GRTA. Check out their mission, the work that they do and how it might affect your Georgia county. - http://www.grta.org/ Metro Atlanta’s Clean Air Campaign promotes carpooling and commuting solutions to improve air quality. - http://www.cleanaircampaign.com/ Lawsuits have factored heavily into Georgia’s transportation planning and air quality requirements. The Southern Environmental Law Center is an environmental litigation group which has been heavily involved in filing some of those legal challenges. Keep up with their latest efforts - http://www.selcva.org/proj_air.shtml | |
