How to Get Involved with NACo
Congratulations to all the new members of the NACo Steering Committee! NACo's 10 policy steering committees cover a wide range of domestic policy issues impacting county governments and our local communities.
These committees meet at least twice each year, with a virtual option, to review and recommend public policy issues and legislation at the national level. The policy development process initiated by the steering committees is the foundation for the American County Platform, which drives NACo's advocacy efforts.
ACCG currently has openings in the following NACo steering committees:
Committees | Number of Openings |
Agriculture and Rural Affairs Steering Committee | 2 |
Environment, Energy and Land Use Steering Committee | 5 |
Finance, Pensions and Intergovernmental Affairs Steering Committee | 1 |
Health Steering Committee | 5 |
Human Services and Education Steering Committee | 6 |
Telecommunications and Technology Steering Committee | 6 |
Transportation Steering Committee | 2 |
To apply, please fill out the 2024 NACo Steering Committee Nomination Form and send the filled out form to Martha Revelo, [email protected] by June 30, 2024.
Standing Committees, Task Forces, Advisory Boards and Caucuses
Other ways to be involved include participating in standing and adhoc committees such as the Membership Committee, Programs and Services Committee and Information Technology Committee. These committees help shape NACo's programs and services both internally for the association and externally for county governments and partners.
Additionally, caucuses like the Rural Action Caucus and the Large Urban County Caucus contribute to advancing NACo's policy agenda and providing valuable forums and opportunities for peer exchanges and thought leadership, NACo also convenes special task forces to study and address important policy questions that extend beyond a single policy committee's jurisdiction.
Applications for these committees are submitted directly to NACo. For more information about NACo committees, please check out the brochure. If you have any questions about getting involved, please call at 888.407.NACo (6226) or email [email protected].
